Medi-Cal Changes: A Quick Guide

Share:

Medi-Cal, California's Medicaid health insurance program, is updating its procedures to verify program beneficiaries' eligibility. This process, known as Medi-Cal continuous coverage unwinding, is significant considering the millions of Californians who enrolled in Medi-Cal due to the COVID-19 pandemic's impact on employment and income.

As a Medi-Cal beneficiary, you will be contacted within the next year for an eligibility reassessment.

What to Do if You Lose Medi-Cal Coverage

If you are dis-enrolled, here's what you need to know:

    1. Stay Informed

      • Around your "anniversary month" (the month you originally enrolled in Medi-Cal), you'll receive communications about your eligibility for continued Medi-Cal coverage. It's crucial to read all notices from state and county government departments.
      • If you've moved since your Medi-Cal enrollment, ensure your contact information is updated with Medi-Cal.
      • Be mindful of special enrollment periods and deadlines. If you are dis-enrolled from Medi-Cal, you'll have a 60-day window to secure new health insurance.

    2. Consider New Health Coverage Options
